It is easy to track what has happened to your car using the VIN (vehicle indentification number) and a car fax. Insurance companies will, so do your homework before you buy the vehicle to be sure you are getting a good deal all the way around.

Are those the kind of cars that are captured in drug busts? Or are they stolen? How do they decide which cars to sell?

They come from all kinds of situations. However, stolen cars are typically returned to the owner if possible. If not, then it may be auctioned off.

That’s what I assumed at first too. That’s seized cars were related to drug dealers. How are these inspected before auctioning? Because most of the cars are sold as-is, are they searched for any hidden drugs/money/weapons?

Seems like the amount of seized cars in Southern California are getting higher. These are seized and typically sold as-is at these auctions. I remember reading an article several years ago where a person purchased a vehicle from a seized car auction and found thousands of dollars sewn in the seat cushions. I guess you may be able to find treasures!
